SouthernCrossCatholicCollegeisaPreptoYear12dayschoolofferingfamiliesaco-educationalpathwaytolife-longlearning. TheCollegewasfoundedin1995,followingtheamalgamationoftheCatholicprimaryandsecondaryschoolsintheMoretonBayRegion. Today,themulti-campusCollegeoperatesastheprincipalCatholicCollegeontheRedcliffePeninsula. SouthernCrossCatholicCollegehasthreecampuseslocatedinScarborough,KippaRingandWoodyPoint;accommodatingstudentsinPreptoYear6andafourthcampusinScarboroughaccommodatingmiddleandsenioryearsstudentsfromYear7to12.

Learningcommunitiesareoutcomeorientedastheystriveforstudentstoachievetheknowledge,skillsandattitudesnecessarytofunctionasactiveandeffectivecommunitymembers.TeachersintheEarlyYearsPhaseofLearning(PreptoYear3)usetheEarlyYearsCurriculumGuidelinesandtheYears1-10KeyLearningAreaSyllabuses(QueenslandStudiesAuthority)thatstatekeyandcoreoutcomesacrosseightlearningareas.Teachersensureallstudentsareprovidedwithmultipleopportunitiestodemonstratetheoutcomes,i.e.whateachstudentknowsandcando.Theeightkeylearningareasare;English,Mathematics,Science,StudiesofSocietyandtheEnvironment(SOSE),TheArts,HealthandPhysicalEducation,Technology,andLanguagesotherthanEnglish(LOTE).AtSouthernCrossCatholicCollegethestudentsarealsogiventheopportunitytodemonstratelearningoutcomesinReligiousEducationwhichfulfiltherequirementsofBrisbaneCatholicEducation’sReligiousEducationGuidelines.

TeachersintheSeniorYearsPhaseofLearning(Years10-12)planteaching,learningandasses*entexperiencesfortheirstudentsbasedontheQSASeniorSyllabuses.Student*ayalsochoosetocompleteacombinationofAuthorityandAuthority-registeredsubjectswhichmostsuitstheirinterests,capabilities,talentsandcareeraspirations.AsstudentsprogressthroughtoYears11and12,theyarecontinuouslyassessedineachoftheirsubjects.Theseasses*entsaremonitoredbytheQueenslandStudiesAuthority(QSA),andattheendofYear12theAuthorityissuesaStudentEducationProfile.IntheVocationalEducationCourse,studentshavetheopportunitytoworkonedayperweekinaschool-basedTraineeshiporanApprenticeship,or,toattendaTAFEcourseortodostructuredWork

PlacementorWorkExperienceinaVocationalareaoftheirchoosing.In2008studentswillreceivethenewQueenslandCertificateofEducation,providingtheymeetthestatedrequirements.
